The Joseph F. Engelberger award is considered worldwide as the most prestigious Award in the field of Robotics and is presented yearly during the International Symposium on Robotics (ISR) organized by the International Federation of Robotics (IFR).The Award is named after Joseph F. Engelberger, known throughout the world as the founding force behind industrial robotics, and considered as the “father” of the modern robotics industry. Engelberger was founder and president of Unimation, Inc., the world’s first industrial robot manufacturer.
The Engelberger Robotics Award – recognized within the international robot community as an ‘Olympic Gold Medal’ equivalent – is presented each year to four outstanding individuals in the robotics industry for excellence in Technology Development, Application, Education, and Leadership respectively.
